Tire Pressure Tips from Bauer Built Tire Keep You Road Ready
Do you ever get into your car in the morning and notice your TMPS light is on, or your tires don’t look all the way inflated? Increases or decreases in the outside temperature can result in changes in your tire pressure. At Bauer Built, we have over 70 years of tire experience and understand how weather can impact air pressure in tires. We maintain a full range of consumer and commercial vehicles and want to help keep you safe on the road.
When the temperature or air pressure changes outside, it affects your tire pressure. In order for your tires to perform at the maximum efficiency, support the weight of the vehicle and keep you safe, your tire pressure should always be at the right OEM-recommended specifications for your vehicle. You’ve probably spent a good deal of money on the right tires – to get optimal handling, traction, and useful life. Since something as simple as air temperature can affect the tire pressure and your driving experience, it is important to monitor tire pressure regularly.
As a general rule of thumb, your tire pressure will gain or lose 1 PSI for every ten-degree change in temperature, meaning it can decrease at night when the temperature drops and increase during the day when the temperature rises. Keeping a small and easy to read tire pressure gauge in your vehicle can allow you to easily check if your tires are ideal to drive on. If not, all you need to do is simply let out a little air if the pressure is too high, or add a little air if it’s too low. Then, recheck the pressure with a tire gauge. It is easy to do. You can add air through an air compressor at your house, stop by a gas station or visit any Bauer Built Tire location. We will check your tire pressure to see that it is perfect for your vehicle.
While the change in air temperature or pressure can cause changes in your tire pressure, you shouldn’t let that slow you down. Remember to check your tires with a tire pressure gauge after any major shifts in the outside temperature or if your tires just look “off,” and then adjust to the OEM-recommended tire pressure. We are always here to help and want to ensure you are road ready, so visit your local Bauer Built Tire, or our website.
